Testimonies

"Rev 12:11  And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death."

Testimonies help us to overcome obstacles in our lives.  By testifying the whole Body of Christ is built up.  Be encouraged by the testimonies below.

Travelling

It’seasier to go where an apostle has cut open a path for you. Apostle Andre wrotedown a few tips for travelling in Nigeria that is a must read for any futureministry team. Thank you for sending us Apostle Andre and paving the way forthe Gospel of the Kingdom throughout the wonderful continent of Africa. Thepoint is to see the riches of God invested in the saints and your geographicalregion as well. If you don’t see it, then all the little experiences along theway become irritations – like the one American lady that didn’t like the wayArik air allowed people to find their own seats on a first come first servebasis much like a bus.  “I’m a professional,I don’t have to put up with this ...” I realized that she did not get it, thatthis is Africa and we coexist in a very fragile symbiosis of ethnicity andreligion.  We encouraged the air hostessthat she handled it well afterwards and she appreciated it so much. Arik airwas actually very good, a local Nigerian airline that performed just as well ifnot better than the previous Virgin Nigeria which is no longer operational.

ApostleAndre said “be patient and enjoy the involvement” and that’s what we did.

Goingdeeper into Nigeria than I had before, was awesome. “Hello Onoitsha” meanshello white man! We were the only white people for miles, but felt like familyin Onitsha.

Wikipediagives a good summary about the history of Onitsha:

Onitsha is a city, commercial center and river port on the eastern bank ofthe Niger river in Anambra State, southeastern Nigeria. As of 2001 Onitsha had anestimated population of 511,000 with a metropolitan population of 1,003,000.[2] The indigenous people ofOnitsha are primarily of Igbo ethnicity. Anioma people (anIgbo subgroup), and settlers from the Kingdom of Benin are believed to havesettled in Onitsha in the 16th century, which was originally called Ado N'Idu.[4] It soon became capital ofan Igbo Kingdom. Eze Aroli was the first Obi of Onitsha, the monarch of the city.[5] In 1857 British traders in palm oil established a permanentstation in the city, and Christian missionaries soon followed headed byBishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther (a Yoruba) and Reverend John Taylor (anIgbo).[6] In 1884 Onitsha became partof a British protectorate.[7] The British colonialgovernment and Christian missionaries penetrated most of Igboland to set up their administration, schools and churches through the river port at Onitsha.

TheBishop of Grace of God Mission, Dr. Paul C. Nwachukwu, actually prophesiedabout the markets increasing in the city about a decade earlier, and this hashappened, there are now markets everywhere, not just in the traditional marketplace.

TheRiver Niger is huge and impressive, but Pastor Paul Nwachukwu said it could beutilized better by draining it and allowing for larger vessels to navigate it,stimulating more trade in the area. This tells you something about the familythat hosted us.

Travellingabout 24 hours to get to Onitsha, was interesting. But Pastor Morne Van Wyk,long time friend and disciple from Harvester Cape Town, made it fun – we oftenshared a laugh especially when challenged with Nigerian food delicacies! Webasically never once paid for a taxi trip to and from any airport, largelythanks to a Godly lady named Vera who is also prophetic and saves every movingsoul, to and from Church, our one night in Lagos was covered by GGM andassociates and we lived in the family estate of the gracious Nwachukwus.

Infact, we had police escorts with AK47’s , 4x4 cars and Vans with tinted glass –we could not really move around alone and we were thankful for this, makinggood friends with the policeman dubbed angels – their names included Rufus,Monday and Friday – so from Monday to Friday we were covered!

Graceof God Mission International

BishopDr. Paul Nwachukwu is a Legendary preacher of the Gospel in Nigeria. He is aprolific author and a pioneer of the first indigenous Pentecostal Church inIgboland (Eastern Nigeria). GGM has over 1500 full time pastors with Branchesin Africa and Europe. We had the privilege of meeting with him personally andasking him about miracles in his ministry and church planting. He was alsoa very generous host, looking after our every need in his beautiful homeoutside Onitsha, where his staff has received numerous ministry teams. Prayerpermeates the atmosphere of the home and church, and every Monday morning theyhold a 6am prayer meeting in the parking lot outside His Glory Cathedral called the "Morning Shower" (Seephotos) – they pray through various scriptures and then the leaders anoint thepeople for the week ahead. Twice a week they pray through the night, and thereis 24/7 prayer being offered for the mission.

Theyare a Pentecostal movement and emphasize the Holy Spirit in every activity.Something we relate to well, albeit that the liturgy of the meetings differsomewhat from our apostolic style services. The cathedral itself is impressiveto say the least as the video clips and photos show. Follow my YouTube link below. “Papa”, as Bishop Paul isaffectionately known by his church, told me that the church was designed by anItalian Architect, standing like a city on the hill Jesus referred to in histeachings. In the complex there are dormitories for visitors and a school with numerousclassrooms, a newly built Bible School that also will serve as a guest house, and enough office space for the highly trained and dedicated staff of theministry that serves many of the provinces of Nigeria.

Bussestransport people to and from church and on Sundays they have meetings inseveral parishes as well as the main cathedral. Pastor Paul, son of Papa, is agreat guy to know and his prophetic calling is an inspiration for ourgeneration. He shared about being a son in the ministry and the pressures thatentails – things that I could relate to very well. We discussed the concept ofsons versus orphans and the consequences in church. He is a humble man with ahuge vision, a good combination. His easy going style should not bemisinterpreted, because he has a work ethic and schedule that requires thegrace of God to maintain, just after we left they started another conferencefor leaders! His wife Chinwe  is alsoconstantly speaking to people about purpose and she looked after us superbly, even though she has recently had her fourth child “Princess” whom I often heldin my arms to remind me of Zoe back home. Thanks to the Nwachukwu household andstaff – especially John who kept making sure we ate all our food!

Paulsaid about us that we had “possessed the mountain of Arts and Celebration forthe Lord”, a concept he uses to stimulate people to take dominion for Jesus intheir field of expertise. This is also how he plants churches and gets peopleto reach out to the lost – he is a superb strategist for the kingdom and Ilearnt a great deal about marketing and evangelism from him, especially in thefield of missions and church planting. It is rare to find spiritual friendslike this in my experience. We look forward to more exciting adventures withhim.

NigerianCuisine

Apartfrom the fact that we dined mostly at the Nwachukwu residence, we learnt agreat deal about Nigerian food and its nutritional values. They don’t eat asmuch junk food and hardly ever drink tea or coffee, mostly water. Yams are thestaple food and the people are really overweight. This natural diet coupled withthe people’s ability to work, evident especially in the market scenes aroundOnitsha will make many local South Africa workers go pale. The stigmaassociated with evil Nigerians is unfortunate, because I saw many hard workingpassionate people going for it in business and trying their best, even withlimited resources: a little girl had a tray filled with peanuts in their shells, she had two little tins giving customers two options and she simply scooped thenuts into a plastic bag and earned a few Nira this way – working happily aroundthe convention and seeing the fruit of her labour – I took a picture of her andshe did not understand why we found her interesting, but the picture will staywith me when I see loiterers and beggars in the future – I will encourage themwith her story.

MoiMoi – is a mould of mashed beans with a surprise filling of either egg or insome cases fish. Ora Soup is a broth of ora leaves with fish, sometimes stockfish and dried fish, with other bits and pieces. Yams are like sweet potatoesjust bigger and can be mashed or cut up in chunks added to various dishes.

Plantainis a banana without the sugar content that is used much like potatoes in meals. It can be fried or boiled up with yam into porridge. Catfish is the most commonfish in Nigeria and the Nwachukwus have a pond in their yard to cultivate thefish. Paul’s Mom, Mrs Dorothy Nwachukwu implemented feeding schemes for the poorin the area and catfish are easy to feed and they taste quite nicely ifprepared well as we had in the 5 Star Restaurant in Onitsha – the venue for oneof the Missions new Churches on Sundays!

Thereare no words to describe the feeling of seeing thousands of young people, praying in tongues and worshipping God for days culminating in a night vigilthat showcased the talent from different provinces where Grace of God Mission has churches.

Chiefsfor a Day & Home Again

Climbingon the last flight from O. R. Tambo in Johannesburg after travelling since 5 amthe previous morning from Onitsha, I heard the song “Home Again” (Andre Pelser,Harvester Blues Band, Pelser Media www.pelsermedia.com) and meditated on the Words: : “Although thetask is humble and although the stakes are high, I will complete my mission andgive it my best try... till I’m home again”

Godprotected us as we waited for 13 hours on Lagos airport. Vera helped us so muchwith transport between the two airports in Lagos and we managed to grab lunch. While we were eating, people she knew came to join us, some of them were notsaved and 2 gave their lives to the Lord.

Wehad a surreal trip from Benin City to Lagos because Paul had given us thehonour of dressing us in Priestly robes of the Igbo People. People admired us as we walked through the airport and greeted us with “Ibueh” (Checkspelling?) meaning king and they basically enjoyed seeing “Onoitshas” (Whitemen) wearing their traditional dress. We played along out of respect for thepeople, explaining that we were not chiefs but pastors for God! On arrival peoplewere taking pictures with their cell phones and a report from the NigerianCompass Newspaper interviewed me about Nigerian South African relations, I hopeto download the article soon from their web site.

Ithought of Joseph receiving a new robe from the king and sensed God’s favourand honour in our lives. What a feeling. I also heard a Nigerian get offendedwhen he said that only a true Nigerian could wear those beautiful robes. Have a look at our PHOTOS section on Harvester's web site. However, almost supernaturally, people who tried to come near us were movedaway by those who respected what we wore, like we had a zone of protectionaround us.

PraiseGod for His provision and protection and the friends we made in a short time. There are things that we learnt and principles gleaned that will have a positiveimpact on future apostolic work in Harvester, and we hope that the youth carryon with the passion they showed at the convention, acting out the teachingsthey received from a wide array of leaders. May the seeds sown grow, bear fruitand multiply and may the rest of Nigeria open for future missions.

Thanksto Harvester Reformational Church Cape Town that sent us and prayed for us, aswell as the our partner Harvester Reformational Churches in Centurion,Birmingham, Clanwilliam and Citrusdal. Remember Apostle Andre who is currentlyin Nigeria with Joseph Okelike at a Leadership Conference – our beloved "Papa" isdoing 3 missions this month, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Uguanda at the end of themonth. Preaching under a tree in Africa

Preaching under a tree in Africa

It was a moment I will never forget. We asked the pastors and their wives to leave the school hall and go outside so that I could address them. We found a spot under a great old tree. They brought some chairs and sat down, some in the sun and some in the shade. I stood and taught them for about an hour on practical ministry.

No microphone was needed, no band, no great platform with high back seats that look like thrones, no plush carpets, no pomp and circumstance, no flashy backdrops, no electronic devices, no glitter and no showmanship...just simply under a tree...I thought, that's how Jesus did it. It's so simple, it cost so much less, there is no fuss and there can be no pride involved. Yet it is so effective, just a man talking to a group of people.

The Zimbabwian conference was held in a school hall in Mkoba where Apostle Alastar Brown Mpofu and Samu his wife and family live. Pastor Zimbarashe and his wife Porscha pastor one of the 6 assemblies that Apostle Alastar planted in Gweru and rural areas around Gweru. They came from Churungw, Kwe-Kwe, Chibi, and Ascot. People struggled to get to the conference because of transport costs and availability of transport, but they came. It cost $10 to attend. They took up offerings for the food. For breakfast we had a slice of bread and some scrambled eggs and tea. They made pap and meat for lunch and dinner.

‘Moroi, Jesu indije ishe!' is Shona for Morning, Jesus is Lord!

There were wonderful testimonies from the people.

‘I saw God on Sunday!' one of the young ladies testified. She needed money to pay rent and she lost her money when she went to buy some groceries. When she went back to the grocery store she picked up $100 with which she could pay her rent. This was evidence of God in her life.

Another one testified how they had no more food in the house but how she put the pot on the stove in faith. Her husband returned home with joy that day. He had made some money at work and had brought enough for them to buy food, clothes and pay their tithes!

Pastor Simba who trained at Miracle Bible College in Cape Town, explained to the people that the singers and musicians are not there for a show, but they are there to lead the people into worshipping God - just like Nola and Chantal taught him. I noticed that the sound system was not as loud as it normally is in African churches - because we trained him that the sound is there to support the singing of the people and not to blot them out with noise!

Apostle Alastar informed those who did not know me and my family about each of us: ‘Nola begins to prophesy when she sits behind the piano, and Chantal is now doing the same, Aje takes care of the church and the bible school when Andre is not there, Yvette travels with her father and makes films of the trip. Apostle Andre's house is always open - I don't think they have any keys. There are always people coming and going. Samu and I stayed with them in their house by the sea. Andre is a doctor, but not a physical doctor. He is a spiritual doctor. He doctored Simba and you can see the change in him! He went to Cape Town and came back strong!'

They took photos of Nelson Mangwende who was healed of Aids two years ago. They brought him in on a stretcher. They told me they had buried his wife and had already dug his grave when I was about to pray for him. But God healed him and he is strong and fit today!

In February I also prayed for Alastar's son, Omega Mpofu who developed a strange and painful bone disease in his legs. The pain left immediately but the legs are still bent. But he is able to walk to school now. He plays the keyboard in church.

A taxi driver on the way to the airport in Harare told me how he developed his business: he went to buy a car in Mozambique from the Japanese and then another and another until he has 6 cars and a 4X4 that he rents out. It is hard work and one needs to be disciplined to make it.  Too many taxi drivers are lazy and have no personal discipline, he said. Then he gave me his card and asked me to contact him before I come to Zim again so that he can wait for me at the airport. A good example of entrepreneurship, I thought.

Heart of Darkness

Heart of Darkness

July 2010

E. M. Foster’s novel about a pioneer’s venture into the Congo revealed a whole new dimension to travelogues: the real darkness was in his own heart, not in the jungle. As a young student at the University of Cape Town, I read that book and wondered when I would ever go to the Congo.

And now I’ve come and gone – and it was not what I had expected at all.

Perhaps Lumbumbashi, in the cold, high south, is not typically Congo at all. Perhaps I need to visit Kinshasa and Brazzaville before I express my opinion, but at least I can say that I ministered to some people in the Congo.

How it came about was not the way anyone could ever have planned it. Pastor Joseph Okeleke from Nigeria asked me if I would go and speak at a conference in the Congo. I agreed and the pastor Timothee invited me. Because French is the lingo, we must have had some miscommunication on two occasions because after I booked my flights and got my visa he emailed that I was only supposed to come at the end of July, not the beginning!

So there I was, high and dry, suitcase in hand and nowhere to go, when Hentie, one of our ‘Band of Brothers’ in Harvester brought pastor Jean-Pierre from the Congo to see me. He immediately phoned his pastor Laurent in Lumbumbashi who invited me to come that weekend. So off I went.

From the air there are very few tarred roads in Lumbumbashi. There are mostly dirt roads. There is a new housing development close to the airport.

They call ‘pap’ bukhari or ‘chemise’. Here are another few delicacies; Shikwange – made from bananas; Farin de Maise – maise pate; Thompson is a kind of fish that you can either have cooked, smoked or grilled; Boulettes – are mince meat balls; Tangawizi is a traditional ‘boisson de revitalizante’.

Leaving the Congo is almost more difficult than arriving! You have to be at the small airport at 9 am (which no one ever tells you) in order to get your ticket print out. Then you have to get into another queue to pay your airport tax ($50). By the time I had undergone the whole treatment they were closing the plane door and taking away the steps! I had to run and get the air hostess to wait another minute for me. I just made it before the plane took off.

When I arrived in Lumbumbashi there were several ‘elders’ to help me: each one grabbed a bag. I had a little bag with a surprise for Nola in my hand. They even took that away from me. We boarded two vehicles and after two days I realised my little package was still missing. I had placed the money that I exchanged into Congolese francs into that packet as well. The vehicle was loaned to people for a wedding and the packet was gone. The cash was missing but they at least took the little present I bought for Nola out of the packet.

It was much colder in the Congo than I thought. I got a cold because I didn’t have warm clothing or a hat with me. I spent most of my days in bed; only when it was time to preach did I get up and go out.

The first message I brought was about the veil. By throwing a shawl over my interpreters head I demonstrated how people serve God: with a veil of ignorance and a veil of the Old Covenant still over their understanding. As I explained the reality of righteousness by faith, young people were silently weeping.

The Pastor’s wife confirmed that my message was prophetic because they had been discussing the veil over the Congolese Christians who had no desire to serve God any more.

Through prophetic acting I illustrated my sermons so that people could clearly understand what I was trying to convey. ‘Thank you for the powerful messages you brought to us. You etch your message onto our hearts through your acting!’ They explained.

From the first meeting I asked them to turn the sound system down. It was ear-piercingly loud! But the next meeting it would be as loud as before. So I would demand to have it softer.

‘You don’t like the way Africans worship?’ they asked.

‘On the contrary,’ I replied, ‘I love the way they worship without sound systems! God gave Africans beautiful loud voices to sing and preach. They do not need sound systems to amplify their voices. I think they have become addicted to noise and they have equated volume with anointing! It’s an adrenaline rush they are after!’ I said.

But the sound in one meeting was louder than the previous one. I kept on arguing with them and trying to explain how bad it was for their hearing.

‘Half of you are probably deaf by now! You are harming your ear drums!’

On the final night, as I finished preaching, the wires of the sound system caught fire and the flames ran up the wall. The people fled out of the building. We had to finish the meeting in the dark with candles…in the heart of darkness, I thought!

‘This is a sign! God is confirming what I have been trying to tell you: the sound is too loud. But because you didn’t want to listen to me, the Lord allowed the wires to catch fire and burn out!’ They looked at me as if I took away their lollipop!

Pastor Laurent had to start all over again several times with the church. Due to the war and the atrocities of war people fled to other countries. He had a lot of soldiers in his church but when they moved HQ he lost all those soldiers. They had to find a new venue every time. Now they have started building a church but it is far from finished. The beam right above the pulpit had an enormous crack in it and I refused to stand there and preach. I moved away and went to preach closer to the people!

I prophesied to the church: ‘God has prepared a feast of choice things for you. He will take away the veil that is over the Congolese people that prevents them from seeing what God has prepared for them. He will wipe away every tear from all faces. He will establish peace in the Congo. The nation will increase and god will be glorified. God is calling believers into their secret chambers of prayer for a while to take hold of God’s strength.

The new move of God’s spirit will take root in the old move but the old move will no longer bear fruit. The new move shall blossom and bud and fill the face of the world with fruit.

The Lord will keep you like a vineyard of red wine. He will keep it and water it every moment so that no one can hurt it. He will keep it might and day.

They shall worship the Lord in spirit and truth from now on’.

‘Today you took away the veil from the people’s eyes and showed them how they can serve God and how they can work in the church. God sent you to unveil the Congolese,’ they said.

I asked believers to testify to how God has used them for divine healing. Several members had seen the dead raised, the cripples walk, the blind see and the incurables cured! It was a revelation to them. They did not know that about each other.

Sunday lunch included Bukhari and Chenille (caterpillars or Mopani worms) and egg plants.

‘The next time you come we will arrange a giant open air meeting and a pastor’s seminar with hundreds of pastors attending,’ pastor Laurent promised.

Prophet David prophesied to me: ‘Your coming created a storm in the heavenlies and high levels of demons were released to try to stop you from coming to the Congo. But God says I will be with you in the work that you are doing. Ministries will come over to you to help you do this great work. You have the ability to plant many churches all over the world. Why do you hesitate?

‘You came to wake people up and to support and build believers. I see pastor Laurent will be with you one day in your home and you and your wife and he will pray together. The devils attacked your wife with sickness but the sickness is broken. Sickness will not get into your house.

‘Because of the important work you are doing and because of what you represent before God, you will die after 100 years old. You will still keep the fear of God and God will give you everything you need for your life and for your work.’

Report from Evangelist Lemma Asfaw (Ethiopia)
Posted by Morne Fourie on 25 July 2010

In the Bible Luke gave a thorough report to Theophilus concerning the life of Jesus and the development of the early church. Just like Luke, Evangelist Asfawthoroughly documented Apostle André's recent mission to Ethiopia.

He is arranging meetings in Norway for us next year. There are Ethiopian refugees in many countries. Preach the Gospel to the Poor is the Lord’s command. It takes effort, time, and finances to complete the work.  Read the report below.

---------------------

"Greetings to brothers and sisters of Harvester Church, Apostle Andre Pelser and his family!! I am evangelist Lemma Asfaw together with my family from River of Life Gospel ministry Addis Ababa Ethiopia, writing you feedbacks on Apostle Andre Pelser’s visit and service in Ethiopia from June 4-7, 2010.

We have been able to witness a unique transformational teaching of gospel from Apostel Andre Pelser that has really been a great blessing to us all on individual basis, congregational level and as a church nation wide. During Apostle Andre Pelser’s stay in the three days, we have found him to be humble, open and hard working (committed) brother. He has managed successfully to adapt himself with the Ethiopian culture and way of living. Just like a loving mother who feeds her children, Apostle Andre has been sharing us love and truth that eventually turned to be a blessing for us. Above all his openness teaching and presenting were really impressive. His determination in spreading the gospel and surrendering souls for our Lord has been in particular something that we learned a lot from. I really would like to thank God for giving us Apostle Andre Pelser for Africa! For he is a true remedy for a generation gap that we are currently living in. We would like to really thank you for sending him here to East Africa. God bless you! We are praying for Apostle Andre pelser, his family and the Harvester church for more blessing!

I met Apostle Andrie pelser for the first time in 2007 in Birmingham, (UK) in Elim Pentecostal church in a program organized for evangelists’ pastors and leaders. I was there together with other Ethiopian pastors. I was invited by Prophet Graham to attend a program and that was the scenario that I saw Apostle Andre Ministering. At the time, I was moving around the United Kingdom ministering different Ethiopian and Eritrean congregations. Upon the will of God I managed to meet Prophet Graham first and through him I was introduced to Apostle Andre pelser. That was the time that we become close and made fellowship together. That was also the time that I asked Apostle Andre Pelser to come to Ethiopia and to share us this grace. It was the will of God that after three years in a miraculous way he comes to Ethiopia. My family and I were delighted when Prophet Graham from Birmingham mailed us the news about the coming of the Apostle to Ethiopia and we praised God! And Prophet Graham further explained to us about the harvester church planted in the United Kingdom. At that moment the Holy Spirit put a message in my heart that the same thing will happen in Ethiopia. However, I thought that things wouldn’t be that easy and fast as well. After some e-mail contacts we lost attachments with the Apostle and all of sudden he was at Hilton hotel in Addis Ababa and called me through my house’s phone and said “Hello! I am Andre from South Africa!” I was really! Really! Surprised! And the next morning together with my son Bemnetu Lemma we went over and welcomed him with love. What an appointment!  In the coming three days just like a committed soldier he marched through the land and shared us what he received from our lord.

Detailed Report

1.     On Saturday morning God prepared a car for us through a sister called Misgana. We went to the highest peak in Addis Ababa called Entoto, where it is possible to see the full view of the city. We also went to other places of the city for a visit; we had a good time together with Apostle Andre Pelser as we shared testimonies and brotherly chatting. Sister Misgana invited us for a lunch at a hotel and we dined on European dishes.

2.     On Saturday afternoon Apostle Andre pelser taught my family, evangelists and ministers on Ephesians 4-11 that focuses on church administration and the five offices of services prevalent in the church. We were pleased by his teaching. He has taught us how to live on the eve of the coming of our Lord. With tears and a broken heart it paved a way for a prayer. Just as the Lord spoke to me, I poured on oil that was prayed on and put it on the Apostle’s head and prayed for him and the lord spoke to him that he will provide service to the Lord in a new way and that God will be with him and accompany him. In addition the Lord spoke that he will have a fruitful ministerial years and that he has come here up on the will of God. The Apostle has written everything the Lord has spoken to him. It was a time of revival and wonderful worshiping.

3.     Sister Selam who assisted Apostle Andre in translating took us for refreshments with her car. That day in the evening we went to my home to dine on Ethiopian dishes. I am a father of six children (5 boys and 1 girl), together with my wife Zelekash Gebremeskel and family we welcomed the Apostle into our house. One of my sons has been married four months ago. I and my family are members of the full Gospel Believers Church who serve the Lord by traveling in the land. We are called by the Lord to serve on full time basis. I had the opportunity of serving the Lord internationally. England, Norway, Austria and Germany are some of the countries that I have traveled to reach with the gospel. Just like Apostle Andre, I aspire and would be happy to reach 62 and more nations. Our family’s vision is to work on:-  1, Family Restoration 2, Facilitate prayer centers 3, organizing conferences and crusades that would eventually turn to be churches. You can look at our brochures and pamphlets for detailed information. Our ministry is on the move of growing, thus we don’t have a web site currently. I received the revelation of the Lord that says “Go out to the world and reach” 18 years ago and we are trying to do this in particular. It would be a great honor to come to South Africa and worship God together with you brothers and sisters!

4.     On Sunday early morning at 7:00 p.m we started our journey to the Southern part of Ethiopia on a place called Butajira. It was a three hour drive from Addis Ababa. A man called Timotewos was driving the car to the destined place. Previously me and my son Bekalu were invited to minister there but out Lord arranged situations for Apostle Andre pelser to share the word of Gad to the crowd. The apostle taught about Zaccheus for a crowd of people estimated to be from 2,000 to 3,000 and above. It was a time of big revival, worship and healing as well. He was even saying “Eyesus geta naw!” to the crowd which in Amharic (our language) means “Jesus is Lord!” After the conference we dined in one of the hotels in Butajira and resumed our journey back to Addis Abeba together with the apostle, my son Mitsiatu Lemma who is a singer and Timotewos. When we reached Addis Ababa, we went directly to the place arranged as a prayer center without chairs yet, and Apostle Andre prayed on the place. Since it was a tiresome journey we had to take back the apostle to the hotel where he had to stay. It was a kind of a rainy day. I was looking at the apostle’s shoe that was partially covered with mud as he tried to get rid of it. I was happy to see the Ethiopian soil leaving together with the apostle. That is what the Bible says at Joshua 1:1-9 “I will give you every place where you set your feet”. The apostle had taken the soil with him. Really we pray that he will return back and plant churches here. Oh! What a fast acquaintance, a long service and a sudden separation. Even the apostle didn’t have that much time for relaxation and entertainment. He did God’s work for short days leaving great impacts on our lives and on Monday he returned back to South Africa. We praise God for the fellowship that he gave us with the apostle, his family and his ministry at the Harvester church!

Dear brothers and sisters! We have come to understand that this is the divine appointment and work of God. We want the fellowship between us to resume. It has been 19 years now since the fall of the communist regime in Ethiopia. Thousands of people are returning their faces to the churches. It’s a big task to be accomplished. In Luke 5:1-11, it was difficult for Peter to pull the net as it was filled with large number of fish. We need help and assistance in pulling individuals in to the kingdom of God. We need individuals like Andre Pelser to serve the Lord. For it is a time of gospel for Africa. The gospel that has been covered by tradition in Ethiopia is now to erupt like a volcano, and as a result we want you to be involved in the spread of gospel in the country and to take part in the call of God.

1.                 It would be important if we could have visiting with each other and would be a privilege for me to come to you for a visit and preach the gospel for Ethiopians who live in South Africa.

2.                 It would be a blessing if the harvester church could plant a church in Ethiopia since we need more churches both in the urban and rural areas of Ethiopia.

3.                 We kindly ask if the apostle Andre Pelser could come over again and launch his ministerial services to us for a longer duration of time.

Give our hearty greetings to all brothers and sisters there in South Africa! The time for the second coming of Jesus is near! God bless you!!

Mission to the Cradle of Christianity
Posted by gunsworth on 10 June 2010

June 2010

Ethiopia evokes many images in the minds of people: what do you see? Do you think of deserts, camels, ancient civilizations?  Or do you remember Haile Salassie, the Emperor that called himself the Lion of Judah, or the communistic regime or the Italian colonization? Or do you know about long distance runners from Ethiopia; the famine that exhausted a nation; the recent bloodshed for the past three years and now a new government and sudden peace and quiet?

I simply chose a date on the calendar to go to Ethiopia and it happened to be the first week after the elections. Once again the Holy Spirit's ‘Perfect Timing'! The United Nations Peace Keeping Monitoring Force for the national elections was still around. America also sent hundreds of youth workers to do life skills training in remote villages - all the expense of America. The USA does so much for other countries without expecting anything else in return. God bless America.

How the Lord arranged the Mission

How my trip to Ethiopia came about is amazing. Graham Unsworth arranged a meeting for me with two Ethiopian pastors in Birmingham. It took place in Birmingham's Elim church office. The Elim pastor was also present. As I ministered to the Ethiopian pastors they wept and knelt down and asked me to lay my hands on them. One of them was pastor Lemma.

‘Ethiopia needs to hear your message! Will you come to Ethiopia?' Lemma asked.

Every time I tried to go, they would tell me that it is too dangerous. This time they said, they don't know what it would be like after the election, but if I want to come I should do so. I did. I went.

The First Christian in Africa

The Ethiopian Eunuch attended the celebrations in Jerusalem and returned home on his chariot when the Holy Spirit prompted Phillip the Evangelist to leave his very successful evangelistic campaign in Samaria and go to a lonely road in Gaza. I ask myself how many evangelists would do something like Phillip. And there he encountered the Eunuch a high court official who had command of all the treasures Candace, Queen of the Ethiopians. The man was reading from Isaiah about a lamb lead to the slaughter.

‘Who does the prophet speak about: himself or someone else?' he asked Phillip.

Phillip began from that scripture and explained Jesus Christ to him. When he had finished the man noticed a pond of water and asked: ‘there's water, what hinders me to be baptized?' So obviously Phillip's Gospel of Jesus Christ included water baptism of believers! I don't know how anyone can separate immersion in water baptism from salvation. It is one package deal if I understand the Scriptures.

‘If you believe with all your heart, you may be baptized.' Phillip explained. Both of them stepped out of the chariot and down into the water and Phillip baptized the man. When they came up out of the water (so he did not simply sprinkle water on his head as some would have us believe) Phillip was supernaturally caught away and found himself in Azotus.

Azotus means ‘stronghold' the seat of Dagon the god of the Philistines. Evangelists are called to areas where there are strongholds of the devil to break open the gates of the enemy so that churches can be planted. Thank God for true evangelists! One man can make a difference to a nation!

So the Eunuch was the first Christian who brought the full Gospel message of Jesus Christ to Ethiopia about at 40 AD making Ethiopia the cradle of Christianity in Africa.

The Ethiopian Connection

Pastor Lemma arranged the meetings for me both in Addis Ababa and in Batujira, about 150 Kilometres away.

Addis Ababa means ‘new flower'. ‘Ijesus Getano' means Jesus is Lord. It has tremendous power in the spirit realm where there is much witchcraft and demonic activity.

I ministered in Pastor Lemma's home the first night and met his wonderful family who are all in ministry with him. They were amazed to hear that the Pelser family has been in the ministry for four generations already.

‘This is something new to us. We thought it was strange that all my sons want to be in the ministry as well. But now we are encouraged by your family to be a ministry family!'

On Saturday I ministered to a group of leaders. I spoke about the need and the benefits of accepting the full fivefold ministry and showed them the illustration I always use of the hand that cannot make a fist without the thumb. The apostle represents the thumb, the index finger the prophet, the middle finger the evangelists that reaches out the furthest, the ring finger is the pastor and the little finger that easily goes into the ear represents the teacher.

Salam, a lady, interpreted my message into Amharic, the Ethiopian language.

Afterwards the presence of the Lord was so real, we all wept because the Lord touched our hearts and ministered to us. There was such an awareness of His love and grace. They anointed me with oil and thanked God that he made it possible for me to be there. Then Pastor Lemma prophesied over me indicating special blessings for my family and church and that more doors would open to countries I have never even thought of because the time is short to reach the world. God would also give me a new message for the last part of my life on earth to bring to the whole globe as we prepare the bride of Christ for His return.

‘You are not a Foreigner amongst us; it is like we know you for a long time already. My children say, you are one of us!'

Ethiopian Dishes & Music

I ate their communal meals with them: they bake a large pancake called Injera made from teff that contains a lot of iron, and on top of that they put Kitfaw (chopped raw meat and lots of butter and chopped onion or chilli). There will always be some Kocho (a small hard piece of bread made from the root of the Kocho tree that looks just like a banana tree). Everyone shares the meal from the tray. You tear a piece of the Injera off and then scoop the Kitfaw up with your piece of pancake. They have a habit of feeding each other as a sign of honour. If someone puts his handful into your mouth it is regarded as a sign of great love. The last time someone fed me that way was my mother!

Ethiopian music is very linear: it normally has one or two chords at the most and the other instruments improvise around those chords. The vocals are very eastern, a mix between Arabic and Chinese. When they dance they shuffle and circle. The unusual almost awkward rhythms are distinctly Ethiopian. It is almost trancelike to listen to the same chord and the same phrases being repeated all the time.

Divine Confirmation

Salam was surprised that her pastor preached about the need for the fivefold ministry in the church on the following morning. It was a sign to her that I was sent. The pastor has never ever spoken about that in church.

The Conference in Batujira

On Sunday we took the long journey in someone's 4X4 to Batujira where a conference was being held. They allowed me to preach in the morning. My face wasn't on the conference poster, because no one knew I was coming. Obscurity is part of the reward of a sent one! But it is far better that way. Jesus never sought any fame.

I ministered on Zacchaus in Luke 19. I shared all the disqualifications to actually see Jesus: he was short of stature, he lived in Jericho and he was a tax-collector. A tax-collector was appointed by the Roman Government to collect taxes from Jews. Whatever they overcharged the Jews became their salary. So the Jews hated them for taking their money.

But Zacchaus had some qualifications to see Jesus: he made the effort to climb a sycamore tree (a fig bearing tree) to get a view of Jesus; he was a giver not a taker and repaid anyone anything he took from them four times! Also, his name means ‘pure' and the pure in heart shall see God! When Jesus told him to come down he humbled himself and came down.

The most important thing is not Zacchaus's effort to see Jesus, but the fact that Jesus saw him! When Jesus saw him, he knew his name! Jesus knows the pure in heart shall see God and when he saw the effort the man made to see him, he must have known that his heart was pure. So Jesus called him by name: ‘Zacchaus! Come down for I must spend the day in your house!'

The crowd criticized Jesus for eating with a ‘sinner' but Jesus explained that he did not come for the self-righteous but for the sinners. He shared the parable about the shepherd leaving the 99 sheep to find the one lost sheep. He would go all that distance to Jericho just to find Zacchaus! What an exorbitant display of God's grace - just for one person!

When Jesus stepped into his house he said, ‘Today salvation has come to your house!'

I got people in the audience to act out the scene. We put Zacchaus on a chair and used all the microphone stands to create the sycamore tree around him. I took one of the sound engineers to be Jesus and then asked a crowd to follow him. When I asked for children to join the crowd about a hundred ran forward! The kids loved participating in acting out the word of God. That is what I do, performing the word and then expecting the Lord to perform His word with signs and wonders following.

I told the people that no matter what might disqualify them from seeing Jesus, because they made the effort to be in this meeting they shall see Jesus! Jesus sees them today; He spots them in the crowd! He is calling them by name! Salvation has come to Batujira!

Hundreds and hundreds of people were ministered to as I sent the pastors and leaders into the crowd to heal the sick, cast out demons after souls were saved and added to the Kingdom of God. I also ministered with the anointing to heal the broken hearted ones. Many people wept out loud as the Lord's anointing healed their broken hearts. It was awesome.

Some of the young pastors got up and ministered powerfully for deliverance. Many had visions during the meeting. But they were intrigued with the way I opened the Scriptures in such a simple way.

The young pastors asked me, ‘do you have the same Bible we have, because we do not see the things you see in your Bible?' Afterwards we had lunch together, we atea communal meal of some Zil-Zil bits and Kocho and Injera. Pastor Lemma fed me some of his chicken boiled in tomato Wat (a kind of sauce). I obliged.

Several Pastors asked me for our Bible School material.

‘I want to learn from you!' the one said.

‘Why don't you come and plant a church and a bible school here in Ethiopia?' they asked me.

The Ethiopian Exodus

On the way back Pastor Lemma explained to me that many Ethiopians have been scattered through the persecution all over the world and that he could take me to many different parts of the world to go and minister to them in refugee camps. One place he emphasised was Oslo, Norway. He should go with me though, in order to interpret into Amharic.

So here is how it happened and could happen: from Birmingham in a small office, to Batujira in a great crusade to Oslo in Norway...who could have imagined or planned that? Only God can. His ways are past finding out, but He reveals it to us by His Spirit. His thoughts are above our thoughts...but He sends His word to reveal His thoughts to us.

Some Feedback

Many pastors offered to arrange crusades and pastor's seminars for me; ‘your message is what we need here in Ethiopia!' they kept on saying.

‘Your message is unforgottable!' someone said. I have never heard that word before but it makes perfect sense. Because I act out the Word, the picture remains in their minds long after the words are gone.

As a young man who desired to be an actor and studied and became a professional actor, I was very frustrated that I had to give it up and go into the ministry. Why did God put the desire in me to act? I felt that I had wasted my life away. Then in 1984 in Brisbane, Australia I had a moment of divine breakthrough where I heard a voice say these two words to me; Prophetic Acting. I wrote my doctoral thesis on that subject! I suddenly realised who I was and what I was supposed to do. I found a scripture in Jeremiah chapter one where God says, ‘I will perform my Word!' and that became my motivation in the ministry!

The Birth of Something New

In Ethiopia the Lord also birthed something new in my spirit in the Cradle of Christianity in Africa. It was necessary for me to go there. Something happened inside of me.

Why don't you ask the Lord to birth something new in you as well? A new idea can generate much wealth; a new conviction can birth new values to live by; a new perspective can bring a whole new dimension of understanding; a new relationship can open up new doors and a new birth can be your salvation!

Let my visit to the Cradle of Christianity be the trigger to spark off something new in you!

Pray this Prayer:

‘Father of my spirit, I need a new birth within me. I am tired of all the old routines, tired of all the old things, I have been going around in circles for too long: do something totally new within me, please, in Jesus' Name, and birth something new in my spirit; renew my thinking and revive my spirit; inject your supernatural power into my soul and let your grace be sufficient for me each day of my life. I ask forgiveness where I have ignored your Holy Spirit and I ask forgiveness where I have sinned, cleanse me from all unrighteousness and create a pure heart within me. I will teach others what I have learned from you. Let my life bring glory to your Name. Amen.'

Expect something completely new to be birthed within you from this moment onwards.

Let this report suffice for now. All the glory to God!

Ethiopia was the 62nd nation I have gone to minister the Gospel of the Kingdom of God.

I am humbled that God would even consider using me. I am the least of the apostles and not fit to be chosen in my own eyes - but God chooses the weak things of this world, the despised, the dishonourable, and the rejected ones to do His work, so no one can boast. We can only boast in the Lord.

Tornado week in the USA
Posted by Morne Fourie on 16 May 2010

Andre Pelser

There were warnings everywhere: on TV, in the newspapers, and at airports, but the tornado season didn’t hit the areas I visited. I went to New York, Houston (Texas), via Atlanta (Georgia) to Skiatook (Oklahoma). Security measures have been stepped up at all airports.

Flight diversions by alerts have also increased in the United States. There are 550 000 flights per month in the USA. Last year 15 000 were diverted mostly because of adverse weather conditions but several were because of security reasons. Diversions cost airlines a lot of money.

Hurricanes are on the increase in the United States of America. Fifteen tropical storms have been predicted and named for this hurricane season that lasts from June to November. There used to be 10 hurricanes per year 50 years ago. The record warm water in the ocean is the cause of the increase. Hurricanes need 80 degrees Fahrenheit in water temperature to form. Colorado State University make the hurricane forecasts for the country.

Harvesters in Houston

It was great to see Jako and Elda Filjon and their two beautiful daughters, Danielle and Kayla again. They have survived the long waiting period to obtain their green card as fully-fledged American citizens and Jako is able to do his consultancy work again. Elda is playing tennis like a Pro and clubs are vying for her talents. The kids are doing well at school.

We held a house meeting in their home and several couples attended. Most of them had been hurt by pastors who acted more like dictators than shepherds. We were able to minister to them and share some reformational truths. Jako says the feedback from those people is very encouraging.

The right seat

When I had to go to Tulsa to get to Skiatook, there were only two seats available on a flight via Atlanta to Tulsa.

‘Which one do you want?’ Jako asked.

‘That one,’ I said. So he booked it on the internet.

As we drove past Lakewood Church where Joel Osteen is the Pastor, I told Jako: ‘I sang in his father’s church in the downtown part of Houston many years ago. Then it was known as the ‘tin shanty’ because it was built with corrugated iron. I wish I can tell Joel that I sang in his father’s church.’

Joel bought a basketball stadium to accommodate the 20 000 member church.

As I sat down in the plane the man next to me was reading a Christian magazine. I asked him if he was a minister. I prophesied to him about his life and ministry and he wrote it down. His name is Jim Lewis and he happened to be one of the senior ministers at Lakewood church. He is in charge of the Men’s Ministry over there and was going to Atlanta and Ohio to meet men who wanted to learn from him. The prophecy I gave him covered his outreach and he said he was going to share it with the guys.

Then I told him that I sang in John Osteen’s church many years ago. I gave him one of my blues CD’s.

‘Give me another one and I will give it to Joel. And give me another one and I will give it to Joel’s brother. I will tell them that you sang in their dad’s church.’

Amazing! That morning I was wishing I could let Joel Osteen know that I sang in his dad’s church and now Jim was going to do that for me! Isn’t God’s timing absolutely perfect? My roundabout way of getting to Tulsa via Atlanta didn’t make sense at first, but now it made perfect sense!

‘When you come to Houston again, let me know and I’ll see what I can arrange for you to speak to the men or something else.’ Jim said.

I didn’t have time to see Anton and Esther de Gruchy in Atlanta this time, but we saw them recently when they came to his brother’s funeral here in the Cape. They are both doing fine and settling in very nicely. They found a church they are attending.

A little cowboy town

In Skiatook I booked into the little roadside motel for truckers where I normally stay. I rented a car from the Alamo car rental company for $23 per day! That’s very cheap compared to what we pay for car rentals in South Africa.

Oklahoma is the biggest state in America and the wide open grasslands are like the Highveld in Gauteng. The Osage and the Cherokee Indians come from those areas.

Pastor Jerald Freeman and his wife Dixie, are both doing fine. He was ill before I came but we all prayed and he recovered. The Ascension church in the main road had a big bill board advertising my meeting: Apostle Andre Pelser from South Africa. Many years ago the word ‘apostle’ was anathema. Thank God it is now a normal accepted function in the church again.

The church has a special rack where they hang their cowboy hats in the church lobby. I made sure I had my jeans, cowboy shirt, boots and hat on when I arrived to fit into the church. They searched me for my holsters! When in Skiatook do as the cowboys do!

On Sunday morning I preached about Elijah who wanted to give up at the brook Cherith (which means ‘a cut’ referring to a cut of a covenant). But God told him his work was not finished yet. He still had to anoint two kings and a prophet in his place before he could leave the earth. Then when he had completed his task, the Lord took him away in a whirlwind.

At the end of my sermon a big old cowboy with a large beard came and hugged me and said with tears in his eyes: ‘Last week I just wanted to curl up and die,’ he told me, ‘but you brought me new life and new hope today. Thanks for coming to us. If you came only for me then it was worth it.’

In the evening I shared on The Substance of Faith. There were several visitors from Tulsa. Two of them came and told me, ‘Tulsa is Faith City. But you should go and preach this message on faith all over Tulsa. They have never heard it the way you preach it!’  I pointed out particularly that faith is not a confession but a substance. We should not put our faith in our confession but in God alone. Jesus asked his disciples, where is your faith? They didn’t know what to answer. The right answer should have been, ‘our faith is in you, Lord!’

‘Whenever you are here there is such a presence of the Lord,’ the worship leader told me.

Another man came and told me, ‘thirty years ago I used to run a radio station to connect missionaries. Your ministry stirred me up to start that up again.’

Another lady took the microphone at the end of the meeting and said, ‘you inspired me to go out and tell people about God!’

Someone else said:  ‘you’ve had such an interesting life. All the stories you tell are amazing. You are so privilege to go around the world and have all these experiences. You inspired us all today.’

False Teaching sweeping through the land like a tornado

Carlton Pearson that used to be one of the foremost Pentecostal preachers in Tulsa is ‘leading people away from God to hell’ according to an older Pentecostal preacher. Carlton lost his church, his salary and all he possessed. A phone call from a pastor in San Francisco who is a lesbian opened up a new door for him to preach his new theory that heaven is waiting for everyone and that hell as we were taught does not exist. Her church consists of people recovering from drug addiction, lesbians and homosexuals.

‘I was hurting man,’ Pearson told the TV interviewer, ‘and these people were singing and washing my feet…everybody became Jesus to me. They healed me! I experienced more love among them than among the Pentecostal preachers.’

Right or wrong, what Carlton said is an indictment against the loveless state of the church. And Jesus said they will know that we are Christians by our love!

The Episcopal Church offered the use of their great cathedral to Pearson on Sunday afternoons. The numbers grew again. It is still the same Pentecostal songs, Hammond organ music and clapping that fills the cathedral but he is preaching a different New Age Gospel now.

‘God is saying something new. Jesus is appalled at what Christians have made of Christianity. Pastors have become dictators and they have frightened the people with hell. There’s a great shifting coming! Oh, I feel the anointing!’ and his loyal crowd agrees wholeheartedly with a lusty ‘Amen!’

‘People are hurting. Jesus broke the rules. I am breaking the rules. Mormons, Muslims, Atheists, Gays, Agnostics are all welcome where I preach. As long as we worship Jesus together,’ Pearson says.

Pearson now gets invited to preach around the country.

Although Carlton has lost his way, there is truth in some of the things he is saying. I also believe Jesus is appalled at the state of things in the church and there has to be reformation to re-align the church with its original design as revealed to Paul, the apostle.

Let us pray for Carlton Pearson that he will not continue on this new pathway, but that he will have a Damascus Road experience, where Christ will appear to him and get him back on track.

Firenado: The Great Chicago Fire

William Ogden went to buy a piece of land from a farmer in a swamp area called Chicago and became a millionaire by selling real estate. He also started a mill there. Most of the houses were built with wood that people bought from the mill. By 1871 Chicago was the fastest growing city in the world. It became the funnel of America; everything had to pass through its waterways and railroads.

On 5th October 1871 a fire broke out in Peshtigo, a small lumber town. The winds travelled at 35 miles per hour and drove the fire throughout the region. They saw how fire embers created pools of fire around the drought ridden Mid-West. Woods took flame, igniting everything. Flames gathered momentum and travelled at 100 miles per hour. People fled. They were struck dumb by terror. The Peshtigo River was the only refuge. Animals, children, boats were fighting for space in the river.

A million acres of land were destroyed. Over a thousand people died in the fire. Several towns destroyed.

The high winds spread the fire to Chicago. A spark of fire in the O’ Leary barn ignited the fire in Chicago.

The Court room House Bell Tower rang out a warning to the city dwellers, tolling out the city’s doom. The wind and fire created its own up draft causing air to rush in and to magnify the fire. Such fire storms are called a FIRE NADOES.

People jammed together on the bridges. Dust and smoke made it difficult to breathe. Animals were stampeding and trampling on people. The Chicago River caught flame because of the oily residue on the water from all the industries on the river’s edge polluting the river. People could not dive into the river which was their only refuge from the flames.

The intense heat of the fire melted brick and metal, limestone and marble. The inferno chased people north. They dropped everything they could no longer carry. Dolls, furniture, dogs got left behind. The Fire Brigade’s water pumping station caught fire and burnt down. All hope to save city went up in smoke. Families were torn apart and people ran for safety. They kept on running all the way to Lake Michigan.

Yet Mrs. Martha Wing Robinson and her family remained in their little Chicago home, praying throughout the firenado. Her house was the only house left standing after the flames subsided.

One of my teachers at Miracle Valley Bible College, Dr. Ernest Oldfield knew Mrs. Robinson well. He and Dr. Waldvogel that taught Dr. Gray, both ministers in New York, visited Mrs. Robinson in Chicago and knew her reasonably well. She taught them a lot of things they taught us at Miracle Valley.

The Simon & Garfunkel song, ‘Mrs. Robinson’ allegedly refers to Martha Wing Robinson, ‘and here’s to you Mrs. Robinson, Jesus loves you more than you would know, wow-wow-wow!’

Martha Wing Robinson’s biography is called, ‘Radiant Glory’. It tells of a woman who had a desire to be like Jesus. She used to pray over certain scripture verses until they became part of her being. She would take I Corinthians 13 and pray over that chapter, verse by verse, for a year or two, until it manifested in her life. The word became flesh.

One day she saw Jesus and he walked into her body and disappeared. For a few weeks she seemed to do everything perfectly. She cooked perfectly: her family commended her on the best and tastiest meals she had ever made. People came to her door from great distances and said they received visions to come to her address. And then she would have words of wisdom and knowledge to give direction to their lives. People were miraculously healed just by coming into contact with her. It was as if she could not put a foot wrong. And then Jesus left her body again and told her: ‘this is what the end-time saints will experience!’

So in a topsy-turvy world where very little makes sense at the moment, we have something glorious to look forward to: Christ in us, the hope of glory to be revealed through us, supernaturally, for the greater glory of God and the betterment of other people.

A city on the mend

In New Orleans, a city flattened by hurricane Katrina, they are building state-of-the-art energy efficient homes for lower income groups with features such as solar panels and rain catching cisterns. New Orleans has become a leader in green housing. Homes go for $120 000 and energy bills are 75% lower than comparable homes in other states.

The Colleges in New Orleans have also given student grants which attracted some of the top students and sportsmen around the country and their sports teams have competed with the best in the nation.

It is wonderful that a city that was devastated can rise up and be on the mend again.

There is a message in here somewhere: if the enemy tried to flatten your life, there is hope that it can be reconstructed, in the Name of the Lord! All things are possible to those who believe.

Let us pray for a church plant in America. It would be great to have a Harvester Reformational Church in that great country! We need about $5 000 to register the church in the USA.

Healing testimony
Posted by gunsworth on 13 April 2010

Not my illness but my healing

On Wednesday 7th April I went with my wife Annie and one of the church members, Katie, to the cinemas to watch the film, ‘Blind Side'. It was a great film which I recommend, lots of apostolic perspective. Part of the treat was shared popcorn and a coke for me.

After the film as we made ourselves out to the car park reflecting on the movie, I began to feel nauseous and became aware that I was probably heading for a bout of sickness.

Over the past few years there have been various episodes of these attacks, most of which have lasted for a couple of hours. Uncomfortable but they go of their own accord. I had one attack a few hours before a flight to Cape Town in 2008 and was unsure if I was going to make the plane. I really was in spiritual warfare and as my wife and I prayed that time God instantly healed me.

The last attack before this one was last October. It was so bad that it lasted two days and I had to go to hospital to be re-hydrated and have many tests. Apart from the attack, which involves constant vomiting for hours, they found nothing wrong.

When I got home from the cinema I knew I could not wait too long so  Thursday morning I presented myself to the Emergency Unit and was admitted for re-hydration, anti-sickness treatment and  observation. I was discharged the next morning very weak but okay.

During these attacks I have realised that the sickness is not mine so I don't receive it as such. In all of the pain and discomfort I simply tell Jesus I love Him, over and over again. I know it is a test and trial and I decide from the beginning I am loved by God. Does that sound super-spiritual? I hope not. It's really because I have no option but to believe what I know in Christ even if I struggle.

When I got home Friday I was very weak and it takes a while to eat normally and for the vomiting spasms to stop completely. This time I also developed hiccups for hours at a time. The result was I could not sleep.

I got up and went downstairs about 1 AM Sunday morning. I had hiccups and it went on for the next two hours without stopping. I tried every thing I knew, holding my breath, drinking water, scaring myself (that's quite difficult because you know what's coming). Eventually I got on my knees in the dark and began to worship God.

As I worshipped I heard the Holy Spirit say, 'lie down'. Now laying down makes everything worse but I obeyed. I lay on our lounge carpet where we worship every week and fell asleep for three solid hours. When I awoke I knew I was healed. I had no spasms, hiccups or nausea. As I slept God gave me two powerfully vivid prophetic dreams which I am weighing. They were significant and clear. I woke up with the words, ‘living underneath the shadow of His wings, we find security'

I got up went to bed and stayed in bed until after church had met that morning.

Just after lunchtime I received a message from one of the Church members, Mary. She said this:-

"While we were praying for you today at church, I saw you lying down on your back and a big hand was on you. A hand as big as your entire body. In my spirit I felt it was the hand of God."

This confirmed what I really knew that God was in control all the time.

Going through ‘various trails and tribulations' is not easy. I may need to go through other things and they too may not be easy. What have I learned? What I knew at the outset, God loves me.

The sickness was not mine BUT the healing is.

I give all the glory to God and rejoice that I am worthy to suffer for His sake.

Harvester Birmingham - 6 Months Old

Harvester

Harvester Birmingham began as a vision in the final meeting of the 2008 Summit in Hermanus. This was confirmed in another vision the following Sunday. Due to procrasternation it took another 11 months before we started meeting on 6th September 2009.

We had been meeting as a bible cell for a year before the church started. The meetings are in our home in Birmingham which means you have to know your neighbours well. All of our initial concerns of how will worship flow, will we have freedom to prophecy, will anyone come, have all been allayed. I have just put together a CD of all the sermons, prophecies and testimonies from the day we started and God has had a lot to say and done even more

I haven't done all the preaching, my wife Annie and son Ben have preached in my absence and we have even had a visiting speaker from South Africa, Morné Van Wijk.

In January we sent Jenny our daughter, our first candidate, to Cape Town to attend MBC. She was sent with many prophecies and prayers and we know she will be a blessing to the saints there.

February this year we started a Tuesday Householder meeting and Thursday Bible Cell. Both are going well and proving a great blessing. Also that month we saw the addition of Duncan and Beverly Curry who attend when they can from their Yorkshire home. We send them to Cape Town for training on 22nd April. We are already a sending church.

In March we were joined by Stuart Colam, a friend of André and Nola and well known to the Cape Town church. He lives in Birmingham and has a great ministry in leading worship. I have included a song he brought on 28th March that the Lord gave him the week before. You can play it as part of this message using the download or play option.

We already feel a sense of the purpose of God in what we are doing. There is a unity and a foundation is being built with Apostolic perspective and frequency. We are excited by what lies ahead as we move on with God together.

Please pray for us and if you are in the UK come and visit us. We would love to have you.

So from the youngest baby in the move to all of you who are part of it, thank you and we love you all.

Raid on Entebbe
Posted by Morne Fourie on 23 March 2010

There was a movie many years ago about brave soldiers who flew in to rescue hostages from Entebbe Airport in Uganda. They came in under the radar screen and left before anyone knew what had happened. It was called, ‘Raid on Entebbe.’

It felt something like that to me going in and out of Entebbe within three days! By the grace of God I was able to arrange a conference for more than a hundred pastors and their congregations within three days with people I have never met before! I must have come in under the devil’s radar screen and accomplished the mission before the enemy knew what happened! The pastor’s hearts turned towards me as a sent one. After many hours of discussion and fellowship they were convinced that I had a timely word for the nation:

”Your message is what Uganda needs right now. There is no one preaching what you are preaching. The people, and especially the pastors, need to hear what you are saying. They are all just building their own kingdoms and there is no one to father us,” said pastor John Boaz.

Our Contact in Uganda

Richard Ssendi visited our church a few years ago when I was not there.

“The people at Harvester received me so well, they treated me so well, your son took me for lunch and prophesied that his dad would one day come to Uganda. People asked me what I needed and someone gave me a lift back to the place I was staying. The worship and the preaching was something quite different of what I have ever seen before. The children dancing and worshipping spoke to me. What impressed me was that you were not even there. You must have taught the people well. I decided then to relate to Harvester Reformational Church,” Richard explained.

He wants to start the first satellite bible school for Miracle Bible College.

According to my source there are about 30 million people in Uganda and 60% are young people! The rest died in all the wars and fighting that plagued that country for so long under the cruel dictatorship of Idi Amin as well as during the Rwanda genocide between the Tutsis and Hutus. Idi Amin’s reign of terror destroyed the nation’s confidence in any form of leadership promising change.

The Need in Uganda

There is a great need for Christian Schools and Bible Colleges in Uganda to lay a Christian foundation in the lives of the new generation. Most pastors have to run schools for extra income because of the poverty of the church members that cannot contribute to his needs.

“Olyotja” is hello how are you and “Debulunge” is I am fine. “ Mokama Yebazibwe” is praise the Lord.

The aids epidemic and tribal wars have left millions of orphans. As a result of the wars the present adults have no education. Most of them had to hide for years in the forests to escape death. They had to fetch water every day to survive. Because they are uneducated they cannot find any employment.

That explains why the majority of Ugandans are extremely poor.

The African culture of polygamy is still evident in the church. Adultery is a reall problem and broken marriages abound. It is not a good witness to the unsaved. Then there is the new challenge of homosexual pastors who are being sponsored in American dollars to plant churches that allow homosexuality in the church. They are successful because of the financial support.

The devastation of war

During the wars and genocide many women have been raped by soldiers and militants and many were killed. The atrocities in Rwanda left a permanent scar on the nation. The main area of war was Nakasene.

President Museveni successfully overthrew the government of president Obote on 25th January 1986.

In 2003 the Tutsi’s endeavoured to eradicate the Hutu’s. The tribal hatred is still prevalent today.

Summary of Richard’s Ministry

Pastor Richard Ssendi. He as appointed pastor in Nakaseke in the Redeemed Church but in 2002 he moved to Kabowa to preach the Gospel of reconciliation in Christ the Lord Church. In 2007 he left the church because the pastor allowed adultery.

In 2007 he started Faith Christian Church resorting under the born Again Christian Churches. The Government of Uganda forced all the independent church to form one umbrella denomination to give them a voice in the country. At the present moment there are about 70 adults and 350 children in the church.

Richard is actually an apostle. But they have no accurate knowledge concerning apostolic ministry, so everyone still goes by the function of pastor. He took a loan from the bank to buy land and build a school. He is paying it off at the moment, bit by bit. The church is in Wobulenz about 30 Km from Kampala where I met him. He also started a church in Rwanda and appointed a pastor to oversee the work. Richard lives in his own rented house with his wife Christina and 8 children. Christina was one of those who had to grow up in forests without any education.

Conference in Uganda

There is a pastor’s fellowship in Wobulenz with 36 churches. They meet together and pray and also act as a disciplinary board for pastors who step out of line. They want me to come and hold a conference in September to teach them on apostolic reformation and principles for prophecy.

They expect about 160 pastors to attend at the conference during the day time seminars and several hundred people meeting at night. We will have to raise funds to pay for the conference, the rent of the hall, the food for the participants as well their accommodation. They will pay for their own transport.

”Your message is what Uganda needs right now. There is no one preaching what you are preaching. The people, and especially the pastors, need to hear what you are saying. They are all just building their own kingdoms and there is no one to father us.”

There’s the challenge lying before us. Who will go with me? Who will stand with me? Who will say, like Isaiah, ‘Here I am Lord, send me!’

I would like a team with me to Zimbabwe 6-9 August 2010 and to Uganda in September 2010 (dates are still to be set). If you feel a drawing in your heart and you are willing to pay the price to go, you can contact our office at office [at] harvesterchurch.org.za or email me pelser [at] harvesterchurch.org.za or write to P O Box 276, Milnerton 7435, South Africa.

You could also have a share in the apostolic mission by sponsoring the event partially or contributing to the costs. We also need all the prayer cover we can get to accomplish this great task for the Lord.

Testimony from Pollachi India
Posted by on 18 March 2010

Here is a most heartfelt message from a brother in Pollachi, India where apostle Andre and Yvette Pelser held a Pastor's Conference recently. It was with the help of Harvester's partners who funded this mission, that hundreds of leaders were reached with apostolic perspective and reformation principles. The conference is available on DVD from Pelser Media, contact Aje Pelser: mbc@harvesterchurch.org.za. The DVDs are almost ready o be sent to the local Television Network for broadcasting to an estimated 60 million viewers. Let's keep supporting such apostolic missions because the rewards can be seen in letters like these!

Well done Apostle Andre and Yvette Pelser! Glory to God!
